Chase Total Checking + Savings Combo Bonus
- $300Chase Total Checking
- $200Chase Savings
- $400Combo bonus for completing both
Our take
- As a package this is strong — $900 for a single direct deposit plus a $15,000 balance held 90 days, with no ChexSystems pull and only a soft credit check. The $400 kicker is what carries it — doing both accounts together turns the mediocre standalone savings bonus into roughly $600 for the $15k lock.
- The structural trap is timing — you have to open the checking and savings accounts at the same time to get the $400. Open one now and add the other later and you forfeit the kicker, so commit to doing both up front.
- Budget for $15,000 being tied up about 90 days at effectively no interest. If that cash would otherwise be in a HYSA or the market, subtract that opportunity cost from the $900 to see your real return.
- Plan for a roughly 3-month timeline: the $300 checking bonus posts within about 15 days of a qualifying deposit, but the $200 savings and $400 kicker only land after the full 90-day hold. Keep both accounts open and in good standing until everything posts — there's no clawback afterward, so you're free to close once it's all in.
- Make the direct deposit count: it has to code as payroll or government DD, and Chase has been getting stricter about what qualifies, so sort out a still-working method before you start the clock.
Requirements
Set up one direct deposit into the new checking account within 90 days of enrolling in the offer. Any amount qualifies — there's no minimum. It must be an electronic payroll, pension, or government-benefit deposit; person-to-person transfers (like Zelle) and tiny verification micro-deposits don't count.
Direct deposit methods
Confirmed7
Fidelity CMA
Works, but the transfer must be set up at Fidelity using the 'Transfer to Someone Else' option (enter your own name if the Chase account is yours) — a normal 'to myself' transfer does not trigger it. It posts as an ACH credit but still counts.
Chase Business Checking
Works via the ACH Payment Services 'Standard ACH' option from a Chase business account. Real-time ACH from the same account does not trigger it — use Standard ACH.
Capital One Business Checking
The 'ACH Payment' option, even for a small amount, codes as PPD and triggers the requirement.
Novo Business Checking
A standard push works, even for a small dollar amount.
Treasury Direct
A 4-week T-bill maturity payment counts. Practical caveat: Treasury Direct is known to lock accounts for months and is slow to resolve, so many people avoid it for time-sensitive bonuses. Linking tends to go more smoothly if you set up Treasury Direct after opening the Chase account.
Kraken
A push from Kraken counts as a direct deposit.
Wells Fargo Business Checking
The Wells Fargo business account's 'direct pay' feature triggers the requirement.
Possible1
US Bank Business Checking
Mixed results. When it works, the ACH has to be initiated from the business account login; some attempts have failed to trigger the bonus.
Does not work3
Charles Schwab Brokerage
No longer triggers the requirement as of 2026, though it worked in prior years — Chase has tightened what it counts as a direct deposit.
Ally Bank
Does not count as a direct deposit for this bonus. Still useful as a hub account or for funding the $15,000 savings balance.
Discover Savings
A push from Discover savings codes as an ACH credit but does not satisfy the direct-deposit requirement.

Requirements
Deposit $15,000 or more of new money into the savings account within 30 days of enrolling. The money can't already be held at Chase or an affiliated account.
Keep the balance at $15,000 or more through day 90. In practice the maintenance clock runs from whenever the deposit actually posts (any time up to day 30), so it's safest to fund early and hold the full amount until day 90.
